Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge
In October, Y4KC partnered with Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to sponsor a merit badge workshop for Disabilities Awareness merit badge. Y4KC partnered with Troop 450 (St. Elizabeth's School) and Troop 601 (St. Thomas More School). Through learning about disability from local leaders in adaptive sports — former Paralympian Sarah Castle and representative of Midwest Adaptive Sports, Matt Bollig — the Scouts were able to get a unique view into disability and its impact on the lives of some amazing people. Daniel Pfaff, a new member of Y4KC who did the bulk of the planning for this event, said, "This was a really good opportunity to spread awareness in our hometown, and I'm glad that we got to be a part of educating local Scouts about disability."

A highlight of the event was playing wheelchair basketball, and below is a video of the kids from Matt's team from Midwest Adaptive Sports playing a drill:
It was awesome! I learned a lot, and wheelchair basketball is super fun!"
